But, like, what *is* it with Rolex? Is it just the name? Is it the fancy Swiss-made thing? I dunno. I guess a bit of both. I mean, you can configure a watch on their website, which is kinda cool. Get the *perfect* Rolex for YOU. Classic or Professional, they say. Like those are the only two categories of people, lol. I guess I’m more of a “classic struggling writer” type of guy. Def not professional enough for a Rolex, at least not yet! Dream big, right?
And the prices? Oh my god. Apparently, they average around $12,000. Freaking *twelve thousand dollars* for a watch! Some go up to, like, *two hundred and fifteen thousand dollars*! Who even *needs* a watch that costs more than my car? Seriously. I could buy, like, three decent used cars for that price. And still have enough left over for, like, a *really* good vacation.
I saw something about the Datejust being a popular collection, averaging $9,000. Okay, so *slightly* less insane. Still insane. It does sound like a pretty cool watch, though. I mean, I haven’t seen it in person, I’ll be honest.
I was trying to figure out where to even *buy* one of these things, and it looks like you need to go through “Official Rolex Retailers.” The stuff on their website isn’t *actually* for sale, just a catalog. You gotta call around and see if they even *have* what you want. And even then, I’ve heard stories…waiting lists, knowing the right people…it’s like buying a freakin’ Ferrari.
Oh, and I saw some stuff in like… other languages. Japanese, Portuguese, Chinese, whatever. Global domination, Rolex style! They even have forums, apparently, for people to discuss Rolexes. Can you imagine? A whole forum dedicated to talking about watches that cost more than houses? I mean, I guess if you can afford it, why not, right?
