First off, you got the login thingy, “Login,” right? Duh. But then they have “Zaloguj” which I think is Polish or something? Makes you feel international, even if you’re just playing against some dude in his basement. Anyway, point is, *lots* of languages. They got it covered.
And look, they keep saying it’s the “#1 chess community.” Are they? I don’t know. Probably, honestly. Seems like everyone and their grandma is on there. I mean, millions! Millions of chess players! Imagine the smell. Jk, jk. (Mostly.)
Then there’s this “ChessGPT” thing. Now, I’m not entirely sure what that *is*, exactly. Seems like some kinda AI helper? Or maybe just a forum thread where people are being silly? One guy calls it “Chest.com” for aspiring pirates. lol. Classic. Honestly, the forums are half the fun. You get all sorts of weirdos and hilarious comments. Like, “yea how do i play” Seriously? Read a book, dude! (Just kidding… mostly.)
But, alright, real talk for a sec. If you wanna get *good* at chess, Chess.com is a solid choice. They got puzzles out the wazoo. And these puzzles aren’t just, like, “move this pawn.” Some of them are *brutal*. They’ll make you wanna throw your laptop out the window. But hey, that’s how you learn, right? Pain is progress! (Or something like that. I think I saw that on a t-shirt once.) Lichess has puzzles too, but i honestly like the chess.com interface a bit more.
Oh, and speaking of other places, there’s that “pleasedontblockchess.com” thing in the intro. I didn’t even know that was a thing. Why would anyone want to block chess? Are there chess haters out there? The world is a strange place.
Anyway, back to Chess.com. You can play against the computer, which is good for practicing. The computer will still destroy you most of the time, at least in my experience. It’s like playing against a robot with a PhD in chess. Ugh.
