First off, there’s this “YSL LOVESHINE FACTORY” exhibition thing in Shanghai? That’s gotta mean something, right? I mean, they’re not just randomly throwing the word “factory” around if there’s nothing to it. Although, reading the description, it seems more like a beauty pop-up event, like one of those flashy things they do at the Dubai Mall. Still, “FACTORY” tho!
Then there’s the whole “Are Saint Laurent bags made in China?” question that pops up. And the answer’s usually a pretty firm “Nope.” Like, luxury brands generally avoid manufacturing in China, supposedly. But then… Alibaba.com. Oh boy. That place is *full* of “ysl shoes factory manufacturers” and suppliers. So, are they legit? Are they knock-offs? Are they, like, *almost* legit? It’s a total crapshoot, tbh.
And then you got the official Saint Laurent website just being all classy and stuff, talking about how they were founded in 1961 and are super revolutionary and glamorous. (Which, okay, fair enough, their stuff *is* pretty swanky.) But it doesn’t really answer the burning question: Are they secretly outsourcing some of their production to China?
My *guess*? (And this is just my personal opinion, so take it with a grain of salt, maybe a whole shaker) I think maybe some *parts* of some things *might* be made in China. Like, maybe not the main leather goods, but maybe some of the packaging, or the shoe soles, or… I dunno, the dust bags? Something like that. It’s like when a phone says “Designed in California, Assembled in China.” You get what I mean?
Also, the “Replica ysl designer shoe factory” thing? I mean, obviously, that’s not officially YSL. But the fact that it exists just fuels the whole “Is YSL really *all* Italian?” conspiracy.
