So, I saw this thing online, right? About the Bottega Veneta outlet near Venice. It’s apparently at “The Mall” (capitalized, makes it sound fancy, doesn’t it?). Anyway, it’s near the Vicenza Ovest exit, which, honestly, means absolutely nothing to me, but hey, geography nerds might find that helpful. It’s like, between Venice and Verona… which, okay, that’s a bit more helpful.
Now, I haven’t *personally* been there, but some internet person said they went last week and they were… well, they just stopped mid-sentence. Were they amazing? Were they terrible? Were they just… there? We’ll never know! That’s the beauty of the internet, folks! Unfinished thoughts!
I mean, Bottega Veneta… it’s all Italian and fancy, right? “Pronounced [botˈteːɡa ˈvɛːneta]” apparently. Like I’m actually gonna pronounce that correctly. I just butcher it and hope the sales assistant doesn’t judge me too hard. Milan-based, handbags, shoes, ready-to-wear… the whole shebang. Very pricey stuff, usually.
This other website, Bottega Veneta US (which, confusingly, is talking about the *Italian* outlet) says it’s “L’esclusivo marchio italiano specializzato in borse in pelle, abbigliamento prêt-à-porter uomo e donna…” Which, basically, means “exclusive Italian brand specializing in leather bags and ready-to-wear for men and women.” See? I’m practically fluent now. So, basically, it’s saying the outlet has good deals. But, ya know, they’re *gonna* say that, aren’t they?
Here’s the thing, though. Outlets can be hit or miss. Sometimes you get lucky and find a gorgeous bag from last season at, like, half price. Other times you’re sifting through a pile of questionable-looking wallets that probably should’ve been burned years ago. It’s a gamble! A fashion gamble!
So, if you’re in Italy, and you’re like… driving between Venice and Verona… and you’re feeling lucky… and you have some extra Euros burning a hole in your pocket… maybe, just *maybe*, it’s worth a detour to The Mall. Just don’t get your hopes *too* high, okay? ‘Cause disappointment in designer outlet form is still disappointment.
