Apparently, Guangzhou’s got the *biggest* YSL beauty flagship store *in the world*. Like, seriously? I didn’t even know that was a competition. They’re all “SPREAD THE LOVE” which, okay, a bit much maybe? But hey, good for them. The listings all mention it like it’s some major selling point for the neighborhood. “Live near the WORLD’S LARGEST YSL! Imagine the Insta opportunities!” lol.
Then I got sidetracked, ’cause, y’know, internet rabbit holes are a thing. I started looking at the actual Saint Laurent website (the *clothing* one, not just makeup) and drooling over the handbags. God, those things are expensive. You could probably buy a down payment on a small apartment in “富颐华庭” (Fu Yi Hua Ting) for the price of one handbag. Just sayin’.
And then there’s the whole “国妆特字” thing that “品秀星樾” (Pin Xiu Xing Yue) mentions. What *is* that, even? I guess it’s some kind of cosmetic certification in China? I don’t know, I’m not a scientist. But it sounds important, especially if you’re slathering stuff all over your face trying to look like you shop at YSL all the time.
Honestly, the whole thing feels a little disjointed. Like, “Hey, buy a house in Guangzhou! Also, YSL!” It’s advertising overkill. But, I gotta admit, it kinda worked. I’m now contemplating whether I should go splurge on a new lipstick… or maybe just move to Guangzhou. Just kidding (mostly).
