I saw this thing on TikTok, right? This Canadian lady, Ashlee (goes by @msfili, so give her a follow!), she snagged a Birkin bag for, like, ten bucks. TEN BUCKS! Granted, it had a stain, but still. A *Birkin*! I’m pretty sure I spend more than that on my morning coffee. It’s totally insane.
And it’s not just her, apparently. I saw another thing online where someone found what they *think* is a vintage Hermes for TWO NINETY-NINE! Two freaking ninety-nine! Like, I find old socks for more than that at my local Goodwill. The stitching looked good and the leather was supposedly beautiful. Honestly, I’m not a Hermes expert either, but I’d have snatched it up so fast their heads would spin.
Of course, the big question is: Are these things actually real? I mean, there’s gotta be a lot of knock-offs floating around, especially in thrift stores. I even saw something about a thrift store Birkin bag, that ended up being painted. Someone even pointed out a celebrity connection. I’m just saying! You have to be super careful, and probably bring an expert with you. I’d love to get my hands on one, but it’s a little scary.
But here’s the kicker, right? Even if it’s a fake, who cares?! If it looks good and you got it for a steal, rock that thing! Confidence is key, people! I mean, I’m too broke to even *browse* the Hermes website (seriously, the collection IS kinda small, isn’t it?), but if I found something that looked even remotely like it in a thrift store, I’d be all over it.
I’ve found some pretty good deals on bags and accessories in the past, but nothing that I could even compare to the luxury brands! I’m talking Celine for under €500, Dior scarves for under €100, and Hermes Sandals priced at €50. I’m on the hunt!
