First off, you see all these ads, right? “Hermes Birkin Bag On Sale!” Yeah, be careful with that. Often, it’s either a really, REALLY good fake, or it’s, like, pre-owned and probably has a story to tell – maybe a *sad* story. (Just kidding… mostly). But seriously, do your homework. No one’s giving away a Birkin.
Now, I saw one ad saying “13 CHEAPEST Hermès Bags.” Okay, I’m immediately suspicious. “Cheapest” and “Hermès” in the same sentence? It feels kinda wrong, doesn’t it? What does “cheapest” even *mean*? Are we talking, like, a key chain? Or maybe a slightly used lipstick holder? I mean, everything is relative!
And then there are the “Hermès bag dupes.” Okay, now we’re talking a little more realistically, I guess. But…dupes. They’re not the real deal. It’s like, yeah, it *looks* like a Birkin from a distance, but up close, it’s… different. It’s the difference between a gourmet burger and a fast-food one. Both are burgers, but you *know*. Ya know?
I personally think it’s better to save up for something you *really* want, even if it takes ages. But hey, sometimes the budget just doesn’t stretch. And who am I to judge if you want a dupe? Just, y’know, be aware it’s a dupe. Don’t try to pass it off as the real thing. That’s just tacky.
Then there’s the pre-owned market. Enjoei, FARFETCH…they’re full of gently (or not-so-gently) used Hermes stuff. This can be a decent option if you’re patient and REALLY scrutinize the photos. Look for wear and tear, authenticity markings, the whole shebang.
Honestly, though, sometimes, I think the best way to get “cheap” Hermes is to… not get Hermes. Hear me out! There are SO many amazing designers out there who make beautiful, high-quality bags at a fraction of the price. You can get something unique and stylish and not feel like you’re constantly guarding it with your life.
