I saw a bunch of stuff online, ya know, snippets of ads and articles and whatnot, and it’s all about “new collections” and “discover Hermès Birkin this” and “Hermès bag that.” It’s kinda overwhelming, tbh. Especially when you’re staring at your bank account thinking, “Yeah, that’s definitely not happening.”
But, like, you can’t deny they’re kinda… iconic. I mean, everyone knows a Birkin when they see one, right? Even if, like me, they’ve only *seen* one in a magazine or on some influencer’s Instagram. I saw something about “different variants” – which makes me wonder how many different ways you can make a really expensive bag? I guess a LOT.
And the prices? Don’t even get me started. Some of those articles were talking about “most expensive bags” and I’m just sitting here like 😳. I saw something about replicas, too. Which, okay, I get it. A girl’s gotta dream, right? But the *real* thing, you know, the craftsmanship… that’s what everyone raves about.
I’m also seeing a lot about their *shape*. Apparently, they’re all about being “esbeltas” (slender, I think that means in Portugese, I looked it up!) and having “unique lines.” Okay, I can dig that. A bag *should* be more than just a sack to shove your junk in, right? It should be, like, an art piece. Or at least, a really, REALLY nice accessory.
It’s funny, though, because the ads also talk about “precisão e a engenhosidade do trabalho” – precision and ingenious work, again, thanks google translate! So it makes me wonder if they are really worth it?
