Now, I know Burberry is supposed to be, you know, fancy. Like, *really* fancy. I looked it up once, a REAL cashmere one is, like, six hundred and somethin’ bucks? $670, I think. No way am I dropping that kinda cash on a scarf. I’d rather, like, buy a new Playstation, or, you know, groceries.
But then I saw this post – some distributor thing – sayin’ they got “Authentic Original Overrun Stocks” of Burberry *kids* scarves for, get this, $15.30 a piece! Fifteen freakin’ dollars! MOQ 10, whatever that means, I guess you gotta buy ten or something. But still! What the heck is going on?
“Overrun” – that’s the key word here, innit? My guess is, these are, like, scarves that didn’t quite make the cut, y’know? Maybe a tiny little stitch is off, or the plaid’s a *teensy* bit wonky. Or, and this is my personal theory, maybe Burberry just makes wayyyy too many scarves and they need to dump ’em somewhere. Could be they’re made in the same factory, just not officially blessed by the Burberry gods. Who knows? It’s all kinda shady.
And then there’s the Zara thing. Not directly about the scarves but, you know, fast fashion imitates high fashion all the time. So the abundance kinda makes sense.
Then you see ads for pre-owned ones, which are, like, discounted but still expensive. It’s a whole different ball game. Are they real? Are they fake? Who even knows anymore? The whole thing is a big ol’ mystery.
