I was just browsing around online, you know, casually window shopping for things I probably can’t afford (story of my life!), and I saw a bunch of ads. eBay was screaming “TAX FREE Chloé Hat!” which, okay, got my attention. Then NET-A-PORTER, all fancy pants, was like, “Luxury fashion & independent designers, darling!” I mean, “darling”? Who even says that anymore? But point taken, they got Chloé hats.
And then Lyst.com, bless their hearts, “130 items on sale from $79!” Okay, NOW we’re talking. $79 for a Chloé hat? Color me intrigued. Though, I’m always a little skeptical of “sale” prices. Like, was it REALLY ever full price? Or is that just marketing mumbo jumbo? Hmmm…
Farfetch chimed in too, “100s of new season pieces!” See, THIS is where I get confused. New season? What *season* is for hats anyway? Fall/Winter, I guess? Is there a Spring/Summer hat season? I’m probably overthinking this.
But seriously, tax-free. I wonder how they’re pulling that off. Is it some loophole? Or maybe they’re absorbing the tax somehow? Probably a loophole, ’cause you KNOW companies are always trying to find ways to wiggle out of paying their fair share. (Don’t even get me started on corporate tax rates… *shudders*)
Anyway, I’m kinda tempted to actually *buy* one. I mean, a Chloé hat would be pretty swanky. I could totally rock it with, like, my jeans and a t-shirt. High-low fashion, baby! Though, knowing my luck, I’d probably spill coffee on it within five minutes. Ugh.
