I mean, I saw this listing that said “Shop Women’s Bottega Veneta Scarves and mufflers. 61 items on sale from $275.” Okay, $275? For a scarf?! I’m already feeling faint. But hey, “Widest selection of New Season & Sale only at Lyst.com. Free Shipping & Returns available.” Free shipping! That’s almost enough to convince me, right? *Almost*.
And then there’s this ShopStyle thing, “Cashmere Scarf With Leather Patch —-Shop Over 40 Bottega Veneta women’s scarves and Earn Cash Back. Also Set Sale Alerts & Shop Exclusive Offers Only on ShopStyle.” Cash back is always good, I guess. I dunno, though. I always feel like those “cash back” things are just a scam to get you to spend *more* money in the first place. Like, they’re playing you, man. You think you’re saving, but you’re just buying *more* stuff you don’t need.
And this “Intreccio Wool Scarf” thing… apparently you can buy, sell, and “discover authenticated pieces” of old Bottega scarves? What even *is* an “authenticated piece” of a scarf? Like, does someone come out and say, “Yup, this is *definitely* a Bottega scarf, legit!”? Sounds kinda suss, if you ask me. I’d be scared of getting ripped off.
Honestly, I’m on the fence about these Bottega scarves. They *sound* fancy, and the materials probably *are* nice – cashmere and wool and all that. But for that price… I mean, you could probably buy, like, ten other scarves that are perfectly decent. Or, y’know, put that money towards something actually important. Like, I dunno, rent. Or a REALLY good pizza.
